School Year and Calendar. A. The Labor/Management Committee will begin the development of the school calendar in the month of October. The FEA will have an elementary, middle school and high school representative for this calendar development. Parameters for the calendar development will be shared at the October meeting. The Labor/Management Committee will develop two calendars. The FEA will submit the two calendars to its Members, and then indicate the Members' preference to the Employer. The Board will have the option of choosing either one of the two calendars. The Committee has the option of developing calendars two years in advance.

School Year and Calendar. A. The Association and the Board recognize that the school calendar is a concern of employees, students, parents, and the community. The Association may submit up to two (2) calendars for Board consideration, at least thirty (30) days prior to the adoption date, in each year in which the Board will be adopting a calendar. Each proposed calendar may be for up to a two (2) year period. The Association President or designee shall be provided the opportunity to make a presentation to the Board regarding its proposed calendar(s).

Therefore, the first seven (7) calamity days shall not be made up. There will be no decrease in hours for hourly classified employees as a result of this change. The Board will not manipulate the workday to increase teacher-student contact time.

School Year and Calendar. The school year for all teachers shall consist of 176 pupil attendance days and four institute days. Although the school calendar must provide for 185 days, sufficient holidays will be given, unless required for emergency closing, to insure that the total of 180 days will not be exceeded. A Union Calendar Committee may submit suggestions to the administration to determine the tentative calendar to be submitted by the administration to the Board for consideration.
School Year and Calendar. Effective beginning the 1991-1992 school year, the school year for all teachers shall be increased from 180 to 181 pupil attendance and institute days, provided that the additional day shall be used only for non-teaching purposes. The Superintendent will meet with a representative of the Union prior to the March Board meeting to consider the suggestions of the Union as to the moving up of the closing day of school or the declaring of holidays to insure that the 181 pupil attendance and institute days will not be exceeded. Prior to the adoption of the official District calendar for the following year, the School Board, Superintendent and the Union shall meet to discuss the various options and the ramifications and advantages of each. Once the school calendar has been agreed upon, the Superintendent will discuss with the Union any contemplated changes.
