Sick time definition

Sick time means time that is provided by an employer to an employee that can be used for the purposes described in subdivision a of section 20-914 of this chapter, whether or not compensation for that time is required pursuant to this chapter.

Examples of Sick time in a sentence

  • Sick time may be taken for the following purposes: • For an employee's own illness or to care for a sick family member, or for bone marrow donation or organ donation by the employee or a family member.

  • Sick time will (would) be able to be used during family medical leave time (FMLA).

  • Sick time is not to be used by employees as vacations or simply to take time off with pay; but employees shall not be disciplined for the legitimate use of earned and accrued sick time for medically-related reasons.

  • Sick time, up to 960 hours or 120 days, will be exchanged for months of continued health insurance coverage (individual or family) until the sick time is depleted.

  • Occurrence does not include: • Sick time used for bereavement for the death of an immediate family member in accordance with Section 16.2(a)(vi); • Compensatory time; • Vacation; • Jury duty leave; • Union leave; • FMLA leave; or • Military leave • Up to four (4) doctors’ appointments in a rolling 12-month period during working hours.
