Privacy incident definition

Privacy incident means a violation or imminent threat of violation of security policies, acceptable use policies, or standard security practices, involving the breach of Personally Identifiable Information (PII), whether in electronic or paper format.

Privacy incident means violation of the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (Minnesota Statutes chapter 13); violation of federal data disclosure or privacy requirements in federal laws, rules and regulations; and/or breach of a contractual obligation to protect State data. This includes, but is not limited to, improper or unauthorized access to, viewing of, obtaining of, acquisition of, use of, disclosure of, damage to, loss of, modification of, alteration to or destruction of State data protected by such State or federal laws or by contract.

Examples of Privacy incident in a sentence

• COUNTY will determine whether notice to data subjects and/or any other external parties regarding any Privacy Incident or Security Incident is required by law.

• COUNTY will also comply with Subsection 2.2(E), “Responding to Privacy Incidents, Security Incidents, and Breaches,” above in responding to any Privacy Incident, Security Incident, and/or Breach.

• Upon identifying the root cause of any Privacy Incident, Security Incident, and/or Breach, COUNTY will take corrective action to prevent, or reduce to the extent practicable, any possibility of recurrence.

• COUNTY will document actions taken under paragraphs 1 through 5 of this Section, and retain this documentation for a minimum of six (6) years from the date it discovered the Privacy Incident, Security Incident, and/or Breach or the time period required by Section H, whichever is longer.

• Upon discovery of a Privacy Incident, Security Incident, and/or Breach, COUNTY will report to STATE in writing as further specified in subsection 2.2(F).

More Definitions of Privacy incident

Privacy incident means a violation of an information privacy provision of any applicable state and federal law, statute, regulation, rule, or standard, including those listed in the Contract and this Attachment.

Privacy incident means any breach of security resulting in the accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure or unauthorized access to personal data transmitted, stored or handled in other ways.

Privacy incident means an incident that occurs when there is a loss of control, compromise, unauthorized disclosure, unauthorized acquisition, unauthorized access, or failure to secure PII or SPI, whether physical or electronic, or when authorized users access PII or SPI for an unauthorized purpose. The term encompasses both suspected and confirmed incidents involving PII or SPI which raise a reasonable risk of harm to the GLO or to an individual.

Privacy incident means any use or disclosure of Protected Health Information that is not permitted by this Agreement or that is in violation of the Privacy Rule and shall include a breach of Protected Health Information as the term "breach" is defined in 45 CFR § 164.402.
