Freely given and ‘fully informed’ consent means that the individual gives consent without any undue pressure from the researcher and with full knowledge and understanding. Consent can subsequently be withdrawn.
Freely given or voluntary consent means that the individual should not be under duress or pressured to participate; there should be no adverse consequences for them from refusing to participate in the project and no coercion (actual or implied) to participate in the project.
