SPARE BUSES a. The bus companies are authorized, but not required, to provide a maximum total of seven (7) spare buses current with all required inspections for use when regular buses are out of commission for the 2019-2020 school year. The Board will pay the Company providing the spare buses $7,000.00 per year per bus for the maintenance of the spare buses for the 2019-2020 school year. The bus companies are authorized, but not required, to provide a maximum total of eight (8) spare buses current with all required inspections for use when regular buses are out of commission for the 2020- 2021 and 2021-2022 school years. The Board will pay the Company providing the spare buses $8,000 per year per bus for the maintenance of the spare buses for the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years. It is agreed that the Companies at their sole discretion may choose to allocate any existing buses in their tenth (10th) year of service as verified by original acceptance sheet into this “spare bus” category, in which event, the newly acquired bus necessary to cover the route of the newly designated spare bus will assume the new PVA for the year in which the bus is acquired.

SPARE BUSES. A spare bus is defined as a vehicle available for replacement of a regular service bus for reasons of breakdown, maintenance, emergency, etc. CONTRACTOR shall maintain a minimum of 5 percent spare bus inventory including one (1) wheelchair accessible bus. Spare buses have no age requirement and shall pass mechanical inspections required by Federal, State, and local government laws and regulations.
SPARE BUSES. In order to provide the SMCOE with immediate service in the event of bus breakdown, the CONTRACTOR will maintain an adequate number of licensed, CHP certified and compliant spare buses with a minimum of ten percent (10%) spare bus factor for each type and capacity, including leased buses. Spare buses are to be idle during the hours of 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on school days. Spare buses shall not be dispatched without appropriate student equipment as designated on the route sheet. Failure to provide such equipment will constitute a failure to provide service as outlined in DAMAGES ON FAILURE TO PROVIDE SERVICE. Alternative Transportation Plan/Partnership provider shall provide video and sound surveillance and appropriate communication devices.
SPARE BUSES. Contractor shall be responsible to provide spare buses that meet current contract standards for times when buses are in need of repair, maintenance, inspection, etc. Buses need not be exclusive to District, however should be available when needed.
