Credit for Prior Military Service. The Adopting Employer may elect to treat military service rendered prior to a Participant's initial employment date or reemployment date as Credited Service under the Plan. Unless otherwise specified by the Employer under "Other Conditions" below, the term "Military Service" shall be as defined in the Master Plan. Except as otherwise required by federal or state law or under "Other Conditions" below, Military Service shall not include service which is credited under any other local, state, or federal retirement or pension plan. Military Service credited under this Section shall not include any service which is otherwise required to be credited under the Plan by federal or state law. Prior Military Service shall be treated as follows (check one): Prior Military Service is not creditable under the Plan (if checked, skip to Section 13.C. – Prior Governmental Service). Prior Military Service shall be counted as Credited Service for the following purposes (check one or more as applicable): Computing amount of benefits payable. Meeting minimum service requirements for vesting. Meeting minimum service requirements for benefit eligibility.
Credit for Prior Military Service. Credits up to two (2) steps on the schedule may be given to teachers who have had 20 months in the armed forces (one (1) step for each full 10-month period). No credit shall be given for fractions of 10-month period.
