Acknowledgement of Country. The parties to this Agreement acknowledge that we live, work and play on the traditional country of the Awabakal and Worimi peoples. We recognise and respect their cultural heritage, beliefs and continuing relationship with the land, and that they are the proud survivors of more than two hundred years of dispossession. An acknowledgement is a sign of respect and should be conducted only after the Jagera, Yuggera and Ugarapul Elder (or nominated person) has given the Welcome to Country. An acknowledgement can be undertaken in place of a Welcome to Country at smaller community events, internal organizational workshops or meetings. An acknowledgement is not to be used to replace a Welcome to Country, except in instances where the event/activity is being undertaken in an area where an overlap occurs and each registered native title claim group is invited to participate but there is contention.
